Description: A very well done German character study in watercolor and ink depicting dancers and musicians in Bavarian costume at the Munich Hofbrauhaus (beer stein in lower left) in the early 20th century. It is signed in the lower right, although illegibly, but I strongly suspect it is the work of Munich artist Rudolf Hesse (1871-1944). The image measures 6 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches, with frame, glass and mat it is 12 1/2 x 15 1/2 inches. It is framed in a simple period frame that bears the art deco style label of Cary and Kenny of Newark NJ. Watercolor paper is toned, mat has water stain to the outside bottom center edge, frame shows various minor scuffs and scratches, otherwise fine condition.
