Description: In this one of a kind photograph, Wendall Wilkie from a car on Broad Street in Philadelphia and surrounded perhaps, by what appears to be protective services -- his wife is in the back seat but is hidden in this Photo View #2 unlike in View # 1 photograph listed also in auctions. Photograph found in a family member's hobby-photography-loving 'artist' portfolio envelope, codified as 'Presidential Candidate Philadelphia 1937.' Since the election happened in November 1940, the date might have been notated after it was developed (by the photographer) so there might be a mistake perhaps listed or labeled earlier than it actually was taken. Since no information has been discovered or is unknown if Wilkie was in a political parade in Philadelphia in 1937 when dated, it is assumed this must be from 1940 (or at least late1939) into 1940 when he was actually running. The United States presidential election was the 39th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 5, 1940. Incumbent Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Republican businessman Wendell Willkie to be reelected for an unprecedented third term in office. Shipping with insurance and/or signature, protected in cardboard of course.
