Description: For auction is a wonderful arts and crafts style antique leaded glass table lamp by made by The R. Wilkinson Lamp Company of Brooklyn, New York. This pattern is called "Ribbon" and it is done in a wonderful arts and crafts design. This lamp has some size to it as it stands 24" tall to the very top of the finial and the bottom of the base has a diameter of 10 1/8" diagonal measurement from outside foot to outside foot. The shade has a diameter of 18 1/2". The shade is crafted from experienced craftsmen. The shade displays a skirted dome shape with a an Art Nouveau Ribbon pattern running throughout the lower skirt. The beige or caramel slag glass background gives brightness to the lamp when lit. The ribbon is made up of several opalescent glass colors such as red, forest green, green brown glass and a wonderful peach or light orange glass. The quality of the leading is excellent. Wilkinson had a unique way of locking their shades to their lamp bases. This system of mounting the shade to the base was similar to The Handel Lamp Company of Meriden, CT. The only difference is with a Wilkinson shade you set it on the cap that is hard mounted to the base and locked down by the finial. You then turn the shade until you feel it drop into the groove. You then turn the shade into the groove and it locks the shade to the base. Handel lamps did not have this locking feature. Their caps were locked down on the base by the finial and you could easily set the shade over the cap and then pick up the shade right of the heat cap with ease as it wasn't locked down. The base is made of heavy zinc and has a 3 light cluster to illuminate the shade. Each one of the sockets is signed Hubbell and the each have an acorn pull chain that work just fine. The lap base is done in a French dark bronze patina. It has recently been rewired with the antiques style brown lamp cord and it still retains its original antique Bakelite plug. The base is considered to be in excellent condition and only shows minimal wear. The base is signed with the number "515" in raised relief. This is the model number of the base. The shade is in equally as good of condition. I could only find a handful of stress cracks in the glass 3 maybe 4. The most noticeable is a tight line in a peach or orange colored piece and this is pictures. Having stress cracks in a lamp 100 years old is quite common and acceptable. Neither of them are too obtrusive. The shade is not signed but it does have a price tag or mold pull out loop located on the inside of the shade and this is pictured. This pattern can be documented in the book "Mosiac Shades Volume II" by Paul Crist page 269 center row. This same pattern of shade and same base are pictured on the far right 2 examples. This is a nice early leaded glass table lamp. I'm quite sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their purchase. This table lamp was made circa 1910-1915 as Wilkinson Company was only in business for 5 short years. THIS LAMP WILL BE SHIPPED IN 2 SEPARATE BOXES We are professional shippers. This item will be double boxed using Styrofoam sheets to form a casket around the shade and put the base in a separate box. This gives added protection for the shade but raises the cost for shipping. I also put insurance on each box for the total sale of the lamp. This way if either one is damaged or lost the entire amount is covered, even if 1 of the 2 boxes arrive. This raises the cost but is well worth the coverage. I PLEASE READ BELOWI want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. Because of this slowdown I will not ship until the payment has made it into my bank account. No store lets you out of the building with the merchandise unless it is paid for. They are also now charging all sellers a commission of 12.35% on sales tax. Pay Pal used to charge 2.9% payment processing fee but Ebay has changed this to 12.35%. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges. If you feel what Ebay is doing is wrong or you don't agree them please contact Ebay and voice your opinion. Maybe if enough of you do this, they will change their policy. CLICK ON THIS LINK BELOW TO SEE MY EBAY STORE CLEMENTS ANTIQUES OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STOREFRONT Please wait for my Invoice before paying.
