Description: (2 vols.) White Heather and Madcap Violet Author: William Black Title: (2 vols.) White Heather and Madcap Violet Publication: New York: Harper and Brothers, c. 1900 Edition: Reprint Description: Hardcover. 497 + 6 p. ads, 429. William Black (1841 - 1898) was a novelist born in Glasgow, Scotland. During his lifetime, Black's novels were immensely popular and compared favorably with those of Anthony Trollope. However, his fame and popularity did not survive long into the 20th century. These are two of his best-known novels. Both are very good in original publisher's green cloth with gilt titles on the spines and blind-stamped publisher's emblems and borders on the covers. Both have minor edge wear and slightly bumped corners and spine ends. White Heather has a previous owner's name in ink on the ffep (dated 1892). Madcap Violet has a very light spotting at the bottom of the front cover. Text in both is slightly age-toned. No other marks or damage on either.. Very Good.
