I don't remember just where or when.The first food stamps were introduced in 1939 for use by families on social relief with incomes below a specified level and were indeed stamps. Orange 25ยข stamps that could be purchased in quantities equal to their typical food expenditures. Most such tokens were made of metal, but as World War II progressed and the need for vital war material increased, fiber tokens were also produced. It has been in storage for many years.
