Description: Gallipoli Star – 1914 – 1915 The Gallipoli Star is a military decoration proposed by the British Empire to recognize the service of Australian and New Zealand troops who served at Gallipoli during World War I. The medal was designed by R K Peacock to be an eight-pointed bronze star surrounding a silver disc. On the disc, the words Gallipoli 1914-15 Surrounded the King’s crown.Framed for display is the Gallipoli Star 1914 – 1915 is an eight-pointed bronze star with a disc overlaid in the centre and was presented as a personal gift to the surviving veterans of the Gallipoli campaign. The Gallipoli Star Medal 1914-1915 was to be awarded to survivors of the Anzac landing. In 1990, Mr Ross Smith, a former Australian Army Warrant Officer and Vietnam veteran, arranged, at his own expense, from a die of the original design to be manufactured, these stars were presented to surviving Australian and New Zealand Gallipoli veterans to mark the Anniversary of the campaign.
