Description: Mint Cond.DESCRIPTION:'Landdienst' Cufftitle (Jugend Armelband). The cufftitles were worn on the left sleeve and issued to German Youth personnel who volunteered to serve in the Agricultural Labor Service, working on the land. The cufftitle was introduced around 1934. The cufftitle is neatly executed in the so-called BeVo weave technique in off-white on a black background. The cufftitle is in lightly worn and tunic removed condition, trimmed at both ends. RARE Footnote: Established in May 1934, the Landdienst (Land Service) was created with a mandate to slow the movement of German youths from rural areas to cities. Conversely, seeking to reverse this trend, the ultimate goal of the NSDAP was to increase the rural population from 18% to 30% of German citizens. A secondary motivation was to create an agrarian-minded nucleus of German youths to settle and cultivate conquered eastern territories in the future.
