Johann Singhartingerwas a conscript killed in action during a heavy assault on Soviet positions in the Upper Donets region of Ukraine on the Russian Front on May 29th 1943. Aged just 20 and from Karpfham near Bad Griesbach in Bavaria,the foto features him in his M.36 tunic & forage cap with Infantry soutache. Such moving death cards were a typical feature of Germany's Catholic Religionand numerous copies of these sad death notices of the soldier named,would be sent out to friends & relatives in the days & weeksfollowing his tragic death in action in World War Two.. This 'double-panel' cardmeasuring approx 5.5" x 4.5" is in a very good condition. A sad wee document from The Second World War German Home Front... Thanks for looking..!
