Description: EARLY WAR M1942 CUP (with the sharp “Raw-edge” Lip) from a VERY SCARCE MAKER & Mess Kit Marked M.A.Co 1942! From 1942 the first of only two years of production by the corporate sibling of the famous bottle maker OWENS-ILLINOIS GLASS, which was OWENS-ILLINOIS CAN, both of which used the same O-I Lozenge trademark. This is a solid, completely dent-free example of the 'raw' edge LIP with much of its BRIGHT, gleaming 'Zinc-plating' still evident. These Tin or Zinc-plated Cups, known as the "ugly Cups" due to their susceptibility to corrosion, pitting, and rust, rarely survive with dents and significant interior and exterior corrosion. But this example is a very collectible piece!!! The Mess Kit is quite nice as well !+ Over 98% 0f the dull 'Zinc-plating' remains!+ ZERO dents to the unsupported "raw" Lip! Very early-war M1942 CANTEEN CUP, “Tinned or Zinc-plated” that introduced the 2nd pattern LIP with the dangerously sharp 'raw' edge!
