By simply rubbing the pad with your fingertips, you can perform 73 different effects in real time, including scratching, tempo-synchronized looping, and one-shot phrases. The "scratch pad" also functions as a data input dial, and can be used to turn parts on and off, and to create "pitch and BPM" effects, such as gradually slowing down the RPM of a record. The "Pitch and BPM" effect can also be produced. The "crossfader," which is similar to a DJ mixer, allows the user to control the balance between the pattern volume and scratch volume by simply moving the lever to the left or right. There are 700 built-in rhythm patterns. The scratchpad comes on a CD-ROM, which includes the "PATTERN LAUNCHER" utility software that allows users to transfer original patterns (up to 5 patterns x 10 variations) from an external computer to the main unit. The power supply is a power adapter (sold separately) or six AA batteries, and power consumption is 30 W. The main unit measures 334 mm (W) x 126 mm (H) x 334 mm (D), and weighs 3.5 kg.
