Description: Removed from a 1989 Yamaha 50 HP 2 stroke outboard motor. 20" long shaftMotor was tested in a tank prior to disassembly. The lower unit shifted in and out of F/N/R perfectly. Operated in both gears and functioned as it should. Oil was checked prior to testing and was found to be fresh and clean. After 15 minutes of tank run time oil was checked again and found to be clean with no water intrusion. Oil was drained and no metal was detected. There is a 2" crack on the back cavitation plate (see last pic). The skeg appears to have been shortened at some point. It is not long enough to protect the propeller. It can be ran as is or possibly a skeg protector can be added if you want full prop protection.
